Hank McGlynn founded AEYCH in 2008 after retiring from BAE Systems as vice president and general manager of a $500 million business unit, with product lines of commercial and military aircraft engine controls, commercial aircraft electronics, and power management and electric drive systems for commercial and military ground vehicles. He served over 30 years with BAE Systems and the heritage companies of his business unit, first General Electric, then Martin Marietta, and then Lockheed Martin.  Prior to joining GE he served with the United States Air Force.

Starting as a project engineer he rose to become vice president of an 800 person engineering organization focused on developing rugged, reliable, digital electronic control systems for aircraft and aircraft engines. He then launched and championed an adjacent market initiative to develop controls and power and drive systems for locomotives and electrically driven vehicles. After eight years leading this engineering organization, he became vice president of a business unit growing it from less than $50 million in sales to over $500 million in sales in ten years.

Success in this business was driven by creating a high-ownership culture of doing whatever it took to ensure that the user had a safe, dependable, and reliable system and at the same time driving relentlessly to reduce costs and provide innovative, affordable solutions. Today over 3000 hybrid electric transit buses operate in North America, the United Kingdom, and Japan. More than 8000 locomotives accumulate over one billion miles annually. And more than 12,000 airliners and regional jets fly more than seven million passengers daily, 1.5 seconds between each takeoff.

Hank brings to AEYCH many years of experience in the disciplines of general management, project management, new product development, and systems engineering. He has leadership experience across commercial and government segments, working globally with end users, platform prime contractors, suppliers, partners, and competitors. He is equally adept at dealing with strategic business issues and deep diving to help resolve critical problems. Hank serves on the Board of Directors of the New York Battery and Energy Storage Consortium (NY-BEST). AEYCH LLC is a founding member of NY-BEST.

He is also active in standards development activities for plug-in electric vehicle charging infrastructure and for small, distributed, grid-tied energy storage systems. He supports the SAE J2836, J2847, J2931, and J2953 Task Force, the IEEE 1547 and 2030.1 standards activites, and the NIST Smart Grid Interoperability Panel electric vehicle and grid storage activities.
